Not as good as a Geemarc 100, 30 May 2012

This phone has many excellent features. It can store up to 99 numbers. It comes with a couple of emergency wristbands that enable a disabled person in trouble to summon help. However, if you just want to use the telephone to speak to other people, its amplification is not nearly as good as the much cheaper Geemarc 100, so we are returning the Doro phone and purchasing two further Geemarc phones with some of the money.

Initial impression was that it had several useful features, however I was immediately disappointed to find that you cannot store a telephone number including the # symbol – which is needed for some BT services such as Call Divert, Divert Cancel etc.

We then found that the phone has a very pronounced HISS – particularly when listening on handset. Any other phone connected to the same line has NO background noise. In my opinion, unless our phone was faulty, this makes it ABSOLUTELY UNSUITABLE for hard of hearing users – and anyone else too. We are not hard of hearing but having put up with it for a few months we have ended up taking it to the local re-cycling dump and buying a BT Converse 2300 instead – which works perfectly. CAVEAT EMPTOR!
