Note: The maker supplied a review sample for evaluation, the opinion of the product is my own personal view

Looking at this phone the emphasis is firmly on “ease of use” it’s a specific product for a user that might be looking for a loud simple phone for themselves or a relative. Larger dual displays and a very loud speaker phone are key features but there are a number of important areas the maker has looked at so I will list out the key points of the phone firstly:

    Box contents:
Phone, charging dock, micro USB cable and 3 pin UK plug USB adapter, user manual

    – The phone can be charge via a supplied micro USB cable or the docking station
    – 1 or 2 sim cards can be used (normal sized sim)
    – It’s unlocked and has a front display in addition to the normal one the front time can be digital or analogue display
    – On the back is an “SOS” button you can program this to call pre-set numbers (it will go through a list of up to 5 and move though that until someone picks up) or it will send a user set message again up to 5 numbers stored
    – Large easy to read fonts with big icons for the main menus
    – You can store up to 3 quick dial numbers (M1-M3 on the keypad)
    – Large keys which are backlit, a “loud” button which can also be used a mini torch

You do have some multimedia capabilities the phone can take a micro SD card to store media, it has Blue tooth and it can take photos and record video. It’s possible to playback MP3 files and videos as well as browse files. A calendar is present and alarms can be set too.

The inclusion of a charging dock is quite an important one the phone can be charged via a micro USB cable (one is supplied) or the same cable can power the dock. Most users will use the dock and it’s far easier for some people but two choices makes sense.

Big icons are easy to navigate there are 9 main settings in the menu these are also labelled with a large font. Sub menus are mostly well laid out I would suggest setting the phone up if you are giving it to a relative (the SOS numbers and you can input some names and numbers) controls are logical with the volume on the right headphone socket on the left. Number pad is also very clear and large you get some voice prompts when you hit the number pad and hash/star this could make it clearer for some (possibly those with weaker sight)

One nice touch is it’s possible to take calls when the phone is docked thanks to the two call buttons on the front the loudspeaker can be set to a very high volume level if required.

Build is important it might get a drop as phones do the casing is dense and feels tightly put together it’s far stronger than the budget basic phones with a thick covering on the LCD display. Any weaker points? There are not that many this isn’t aiming for “lots of features” it the basics covered and it is nice to see the camera included it’s nothing to rave about though it would be nice to have a somewhat better picture/video quality though this might be unimportant. I would change the dual function loud/LED button I would put one button on the left hand side you have to press and hold the button to activate the torch it could mean some users activate the loud mode, a small point but it’s worth a mention.

However in most areas the phone is a success as the maker has taken time to consider who might be using it and their needs are met. The display is quite clear fonts are out of the box large and the unit is easy to operate. Instructions are clear again with larger text making it straight forward to get started using the phone. Battery life is quite good too a 900mAh battery powers the phone and it can be replaced easily.

The stand out feature though for me is the back SOS button this really is something I would want on a phone like this if I were concerned about a relative this will alert pre defined numbers it also feels recessed enough that it won’t be pressed by accident. Taken as a whole this is a very good phone which can be recommended.

Kindly sent to me for review this mobile is a very easy to use bit of kit designed for those who want something nice and simple.

Although it can be charged via a USB cable the manufacturer has included an easy to use charging dock. The dock makes use of the charging cable and can be left in place plugged into the wall, the mobile just slips into the dock and charges via a couple of contact points, brilliant for anyone that struggles with fiddly tasks such as plugging in a USB cable.

Another handy feature is a couple of LEDs built in to the top that can be turned on to act like a torch.

The clamshell design is light but sturdy in the hand, with a screen on the front for notifications. There’s a call answer and reject button so the user doesn’t have to worry about quickly opening the mobile to answer a call.

When opened up there is a second screen on one half and nice large buttons on the other half. The menu is kept simple and uncluttered and if giving this to someone who isn’t too technical I’d recommend getting it all setup before handing it over, for example setting up emergency contacts, setting up the quick contacts or adding photos to the phonebook so it’s easy to see who you are dialing.

As you can see in the video there’s an SOS button on the back, a really great feature that means this mobile doubles up as an alarm that can alert those nearby that someone needs help.

This mobile has been design with a specific type of user in mind and it shows in the great build quality and range of features.
